Frequently Asked Questions

How much will it cost?
There is no standard price. Enquiries are reviewed on a case-by-case basis and determine a fee based on the times, venue location and any additional requirements you may have. See here for a fast, easy, no-obligation quote.

How soon should we book you?
I do get booked up quite quickly, so booking in advance is recommended. The longer you leave it to book, the chances are that your date will become unavailable. Some clients book 18/24 months in advance, although sometimes bookings are made with just weeks to spare. Please get in touch as soon as possible to find out if your date is still available.

Do you require a deposit?
Yes. A £100 deposit is required to secure the booking. This is for your peace of mind as well as mine to make sure it is definitely booked. Any professional DJ will want a deposit to confirm the date and an agreement to perform for the times you have decided on. If there's no deposit and no agreement, there's nothing to bind him or her to show up to your event. Once the deposit is made you will be sent a confirmation email letting you know that the date is definitely yours.

How long have you been a DJ?
I have over 15 years experience as a DJ, specialising in weddings for the past eight years.

Do you DJ at other types of events?
I am very much a wedding specialist. However, I do DJ at other events such as private Christmas and NYE parties if I'm not already booked for a wedding.

What type of music do you play?
Whichever music you and your guests want to hear and dance to. By default I would always avoid anything cheesy but some people love and specifically request a ‘cheesy disco’! Whatever your taste in music Dukebox Discos can accommodate it.

Can we give you a list of songs to play?
Absolutely. Any decent DJ will take an interest in what you want. You’re more than welcome to make a long list of songs for your playlist.

Would you mind if we wanted to choose all of the songs?
You’re very welcome to choose every single song for the whole night if you really want to but from my experience I know that this can kill the party. If you're paying for a reputable DJ, you're paying for their experience. Good DJs will link your all of your requested songs to other tracks to create a flowing set that keeps the dancefloor filled!

Do you have any advice on which songs I should choose?
Think about what your guests will like to listen to and dance to as well. You might like Rap or Heavy Metal music but will your guests? You’ll enjoy yourself more if everyone else is enjoying themselves too.

Can we leave all of the song choices up to you?
Absolutely! Couples often just choose their first dance song and leave the rest up to me.

Can our guests make requests?
Yes, of course - although guests don’t always ask for good songs. There’s always an ‘uncle Derek’ who wants you to play some obscure song from the 70’s that’s sure to empty the dance floor - so it’s important to politely decline some song requests.

What if our guest requests a song that we hate?
You are welcome to make a 'Do Not Play' list.  If any of those songs are requested on the night then they won't be played. Guests generally understand this.

How long will it take you to set up?
Normally around an hour. However, in certain circumstances more time may be required .e.g. if access is difficult or you have additional requirements. Morning/Daytime set-up is possible if required.

Do you have back-up equipment should a failure occur?
Yes, you can rest assured that in the unlikely event of a technical issue your wedding party will still continue. All of my equipment is updated regularly and all from reliable, trusted professional brands, however I always carry back-up equipment just in case.

What are your power requirements?
I require at least one 13-amp double socket outlet to be available within a 10-metre radius of the set-up area.

Can we use your PA system for speeches?
Yes, with PA System Hire you will be provided with a microphone for the speeches so all of your guests can hear your speeches loud and clear.

What is your smoking / drinking policy?
I don’t smoke and I never drink any alcohol whilst working, so you can rest assured of my professionalism. All of my focus and attention will be on your wedding, making sure that everything is running smoothly.

Which areas do you cover?
Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire, although I often accept bookings elsewhere in the UK.

Do you have Public Liability Insurance?
Yes, public liability insurance up to £10 million. Certificates can be viewed upon request.

Do you have your equipment PAT tested?
Yes, all equipment is annually PAT tested for electrical safety. Certificates can be viewed upon request.

"Reliable, experienced and very professional - never drank any alcohol, nor took any cigarette breaks. Seemed very focused and comfortable doing his job and made it all look easy. Everyone loved the music at our wedding breakfast and had a fab time at the disco in the evening. I would recommend Dukebox discos without hesitation."
